Ryoko Sekiguchi was born in Tokyo in 1970 and has lived in Paris for more than twenty years. After graduating, she studied Art History at the Sorbonne and earned a PhD in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of Tokyo.

A poet, writer, translator, and food critic; she promotes a wide range of initiatives exploring the relationship between literature and cuisine. She publishes her books in both French and Japanese and works with institutions such as the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales.

Her book Nagori (Einaudi, 2022) received the Coup de cœur du jury du Prix Rungis des Gourmets and the Prix Mange, Livre. From 2023 to 2025, she was hosted by Wetlands’ artist residency programme in Venice.
